La Gloïre - les bouffeurs d'ombresCreation: 2014 Dance: Sofie Dubs Music: Ebi Soria Duration: 20 minutes This play is a tribute to Boris Vian's latest novel "L'arrache coeur" (1953). In the latter, the author, through his main character (psychoanalyst), offers a dreamlike and cynical reading of a seemingly quiet society, but where cruelty prevails. The notion of morality is central to this social critique, and the character of La Gloïre (metaphor of the psychoanalyst) embodies an essential role in this issue.
He is responsible for collecting with his teeth the shame, the waste, the "sins", the ills that the citizens throw in the river. To carry out this work, the inhabitants pay him copiously with gold, which he cannot spend in order to bear their guilt, and thus free them from their possible remorse and responsibility. In this duo of dance and music In Situ, we approach the public space as a space where our obscure sides can be revealed, and questioned the notions of values transmitted in our societies.
Armed with butterfly nets, we "scan" the space in search of the most obvious shadows as for example: guilt, self-flagellation, sickly jealousy, excessive violence, omnipotence Based on a movement qualities grid and a sound base (recordings of testimonials + various sounds) and musical base (live guitar), we compose with the attending public, these shadows' hunting and picking. |
